A Ministerial Insight on Doctrine... |
|
Doctrine is a misunderstood word in the world of “religion,” yet to the Apostolic, it is their salvation. Why? Because the word doctrine simply means teaching. Our kids need to see doctrine as a lifeline to salvation and a godly life. Some of our largest churches are the strongest when it comes to teaching the “WORD.”
Man-made traditions are easily accepted by non-church members, or by the new convert, because they do not go against the flesh. Hence, church membership as a whole could be affected if the leadership does not hold a strong position on what the Word teaches (doctrine).
Oddly so, when kids get older they have the ability to influence their parents to let down (or go soft) on what they have stood against for many years, not realizing that the end result is losing their kids to the world.
(Mark 7:7)
“Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
(KJV)
When I begin writing this preface, it suddenly dawned upon me that the parents of both Mark and Glenda Alphin are stalwart people of faith who stood for “strong doctrine” as an example to them. Now we have another generation holding up the banner of truth that will be an example for others to follow.
Teacher, you are not only teaching your class -- you teach a generation … be prepared. Rev. William L. Sciscoe, Senior Pastor
